No. 2 Pen specializes in marketing communications services for small businesses. It’s our mission to help entrepreneurs and  business owners create successful marketing strategies that are implemented with quality written content (see our Services page for a full list of offerings).

Our Philosophy

Our marketing communications philosophy is this: inform first and sell second. We only want to create content that has value, not a bit of fluff that tries to trick the reader one way or another. After speaking to the reader’s intelligence, we then sell your product or service using creative ideas and power words, outlining benefits, and incorporating other marketing tactics such as search engine optimization and graphic design.

Our Commitment

• If you don’t already have a marketing communications strategy in place, we want to work with you to create one. A strategy makes sure we both succeed.
• We want you to feel good about the money you spend. Most of our clients come to us with at least a $250 budget, but if you have a smaller project or are interested in completing a test project with the No. 2 Pen, we are happy to discuss those details.

Sara Lancaster is the founder and primary writer for the No. 2 Pen. With a degree in journalism from the University of Colorado in Boulder, Sara’s career has included work as a paralegal, marketing manager, and, of course, as a writer (both in journalism and in marketing/PR). Her diverse background brings a unique set of communication skills to each writing project she completes for the No. 2 Pen.

When Sara is not writing for clients, she is busy blogging for one of her own blogs. And when her fingertips are sore from all that typing, she enjoys walking her beagle, Moe, traveling with her husband, Jason, and swinging in a hammock with a new book.
