Blog Post Ideas for Your Personal Blog

Coming up with unique blog post ideas is easy some days and almost impossible on other days. Even as a professional writer I struggle to come up with blog post ideas for my own blogs sometimes.

On days when I can’t seem to find anything to write about, there are a few things I do to spark the creative engines.

1 – I look at keywords and traffic sources for my site on Google Analytics. If you haven’t loaded the code for Google Analytics on the back end of your site, I suggest you do.  With Analytics it’s simple to see what keywords your visitors are searching to find your site. Once you know more about your visitors and how they are finding you, you can write blog posts around these keywords.

2 – I read the news. What is happening in the headlines that relates to your blog? If you have a blog about travel, then maybe a story about a plane crash is newsworthy. Likewise, if your blog is about job placement, then maybe a blog post about a new business or thriving industry is worth a post.

3 – I read what my blog visitors and clients are saying. Read back through your blog comments and emails from people who want to know more about your blog or the business you are promoting with your blog. Answer questions or expand on topics discussed.
