I hear this question a lot. People of all ages and professional backgrounds are still wondering what a blog is all about.

Since we offer a blog writing service, I thought I’d give you a brief run down on blogs and blog posts.

1 – Blogging first became popular in 1999.

2 – A blog is a shorter word for weblog. In other words, a blog is a Web site that is updated frequently, like a journal, but for public reading.

3 – A blog is the actual Web site. A blog post is the individual entry on the blog. A blogger is the person who writes the blog posts and/or owns the blog.

4 – Today there are more than 100 million blogs published and ready for reading.

5 – Anyone can be a blogger including journalists, celebrities, every day folks, media organizations, companies, and more.

6 – The most successful bloggers write blog posts frequently on a particular subject or set of subjects that are relevant, timely, and unique to the target reader.

7 – A microblog is an online avenue such as Twitter or Facebook where you can have your own account and write small blog posts of only a few sentences or words.

8 – Blogs are great for search engine optimzation, marketing a product or service, and educating an audience. Blogs are also great for ranting about your pet peeves, updating your friends and family with photos and information, and reviewing your favorite things.
