3 Calculators to Revolutionize Your Copy Writing
Copy Writing Calculator #1
Experts say your marketing copy should be somewhere near the 5th grade reading level. Try the Blue Centauri Consulting Writing Sample Analyzer to see if your copy passes the test. The calculator compares sentence length, number of syllables in words, and a few other factors to come up with the reading level.
Copy Writing Calculator #2
The We-We Calculator is my favorite of the three tools I list here. Determine how much of your copy is about you and how much of your copy is about your customer. Of course, your copy should always be less about you and more about your reader (a/k/a the customer). Don’t be afraid to use the word “you,” and don’t be afraid to try Future Now’s We-We Calculator.
Copy Writing Calculator #3
I’ve talked about David Meerman Scott on my blog before, and that’s because I subscribe to his philosophy on cutting out all that extra gobbledygook from press releases. Frankly, I believe unnecessary words, jargon, and frilly adjectives should be cut from all marketing materials. To complement his manifesto, Mr. Scott also has a nifty calculator that will tell you how many unnecessary words you need to cut from you content. It’s called the Gobbledygook Grader, and it’s one you need to bookmark and use often.

These writing calculators are so cool! I just cut and pasted a random scene I had written into the Gobbledygook Grader. Fascinating response…
I’m bookmarking these for sure! Thanks for another spectacular writing tip!
