Things to Consider When Hiring a Website Content Writer
There are dozens, no scratch that, thousands of website content writers available to work with you on your website content. The truth is that more than 3/4 of those writers will do a fine job writing your content, but that doesn’t mean they are the right writer for you.
So how do you sift through the thousands of websites to locate the best website content creator?
When you land on the writer’s website, look for three things.
- Trust symbols. Is there a phone number you can call? Is the writer a member of any organizations? What about a PayPal verified button?
- Well-written content. Read several pages of the website and take special notice of the writing. Is it easy to follow? Do you like the style? Would you want something similar for your own website?
- Testimonials and writing samples. Again, this is proof that the writer is trustworthy, professional, and an excellent writer.
Here are 10 questions for you to ask before hiring a website content writer.
- Do you have a guarantee?
- What is your turn-around time?
- Will you quote a project fee instead of an hourly fee?
- Can I see your writing samples?
- Will you make certain that the copy you deliver is 100% original? (This goes without saying, but it never hurts to ask.)
- If I don’t like the copy you send, will you provide revisions? If so, how many?
- Will you personally write the copy or do you have other writers within your agency?
- Is this a ghost writing service? Do you require a byline?
- Are you available to speak on the phone? (Don’t ever hesitate to ask for personal communication. Too many times writers are anonymous because the work is web-based.)
- Do you require an up front deposit? How can I pay you?
