Content Marketing with eBooks
First things first, what is content marketing? Content marketing is about promoting your business with well-thought-out messaging (copy, video, and pictures). When implementing a content marketing strategy, distribute the content through various channels, but always keep the end-goal in mind: create content that attracts your target market and will eventually (and hopefully) convert them to customers.
When marketing your business online, quality ebook content can go a long way. Every visitor that downloads the content is exposed to your brand and your brilliance for a significant period of time (it takes longer to read a 10-page ebook than a quick blog post, plus that PDF file now lives on their computer).
An ebook is not a hard sale. Unlike a long sales web page or a coupon, for example, an ebook is more about building trust. In other words, once they read your ebook and see they can trust you, they just might buy from you.
An ebook provides many benefits:
• An ebook can be a money maker if you choose to charge for the download or include a special offer within the ebook.
• Document your knowledge and organize that information in an accessible package…consider an ebook a mile marker for your career.
• If you require an email address from the person downloading the ebook, you can build up your email list (keep in mind that fewer people will download the book if it requires an email address).
• Use the ebook as bait to get people to your website from a blog, newsletter, press release, and social media accounts. An ebook is an event worth talking about.
Only commit to an ebook if you are willing to put the time and energy into a quality piece of content. If you produce something subpar, the readers will remember the poor quality and associate it with your business.
