Costa Rica Relaxation Makes for Brighter Business People

Today, the fifth and final day of my short series on marketing tips from around the world, we’re visiting Costa Rica. Pura vida!

Marketing tip #1 – Take time to notice something special: Squirrel monkeys

While in Quepos, Costa Rica, at the Manuel Antonio National Park, my husband and I lucked out and saw a group of squirrel monkeys – something rarely seen in this part of Costa Rica. These animals grow to be  about 10 inches long and chirp a lot like bird do. They truly are special monkeys.

When marketing your business, focus on what makes you special.  What makes you different from the competition? This is also called your unique selling point (USP).

Marketing tip #2 – Take a break and increase productivity: Hermosa Beach sunset

We stayed near Hermosa Beach in the Guanacaste province of Costa Rica. While there, I watched as many sunsets as time allowed, and it taught me to appreciate the times in the day where things slowed down.  We’re all busy trying to sell our products and services, but productivity wanes when we don’t take a minute to notice the surroundings. It’s in these moments where you come up with your best ideas.

Marketing tip #3 – Let your ideas go free: Zip line

In addition to slowing down and noticing what’s around you, it’s also important to designate time for a full throttle brainstorm session. Schedule a daily or weekly meeting with a co-worker or creative partner and give yourself the opportunity to think outside the box. Pardon the cliche, but it just fits here!

And if you ever visit Costa Rica, please take a zip line tour. There’s no better way to view the canopy forest or get up close to those monkeys.
