Power Words to Ponder, a Contest

Win a $50 gift card for BOOKS or this amazing pen…

When trying to get an idea home it’s best to avoid meaningless adjectives. Instead, use words that evoke emotion, intrigue, or an image. I like to call these power words.

I’m so enthused by the power words concept that I’ve asked others about the word that holds the most power for them. For instance, I asked Tracy Doerr (fellow Blogathoner) and she said “mother” held the most power for her. I asked the same question on Twitter and another Blogathoner, Harry at Curious Rat, responded with “cookies.” On Facebook, Jana from Duo responded with “should.”

Now It’s Your Turn – Enter to Win

I’m inviting YOU to share your thoughts on power words. All you have to do is leave a comment saying which one word holds the most power for you and you will be entered to win the pen shown above (by Acme Studios, $33 value).

This pen is downright awesome. Not only does it resemble a no. 2 pencil, but it writes like fine wine tastes.  I’ll choose three random prize winners on May 31 at noon (EST) and ship the pens off ASAP.

But Wait, There’s a BONUS Prize

I’d also like to know which word for the following five categories holds the most power for you. Of those who participate in this part of the contest, I’ll select one random contestant to receive a $50 gift certificate to Barnes and Noble (winner chosen May 31). Here are the categories:

1. Relationships

2. Food

3. Health

4. Nature

5. Shopping

To get everyone started I’ve left my six power words in the comments below. If you get stuck, type the first word that comes to mind. There are no wrong answers. Just let your creative juices flow.
