5 Movie Quotes to Inspire Your Blogging
A few of my favorite movies with quotes that apply to the blogging life…
“You give your children enough money to do something, but not enough to do nothing.” – Matt King (George Clooney) in The Descendants
First of all, read this book. The written story is richer than the movie. You’ll enjoy the flashbacks and insight into Elizabeth (the dead wife).
In terms of this quote, I think of my blogs like my kids. It’s painful to blog. It’s a ton of work. Still, blogging is worth it. You get to exercise your writing muscle and talk about the things you want to talk about.
The trick is to not focus on perfection. A blog that is too polished will be impersonal and it won’t succeed. Give your blog love, but don’t spoil it.
“It’s a business lie, it’s different from a life lie.” – Joe Lorkowski (Alan Arkin) in Sunshine Cleaning
Does this one really need explaining?
“Every day you’re not dead in the ground, when you wake up in the morning, you’re gonna have to make some decisions. Got to ask yourself this question: ‘Am I gonna believe all them bad things them fools say about me today?’” – Constantine Jefferson (Cicely Tyson) in The Help
Other bloggers and blog visitors may criticize what you write, but don’t let that stop you.
“So I’m two inches away from her. Her luscious lips part. Just as I’m about to kiss her, she looks at me and she says, ‘What’s your name?’” – Gogol Ganguli (Kal Penn) in The Namesake
You can’t fake passion. Blog about a topic you truly want to explore. If you’re luke warm, your readers will know.
“Are we like couples you see in restaurants? Are we the dining dead?” – Joel (Jim Carrey) in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
There’s always something to talk about. When you’re stuck for conversation, think about what problems you could solve for your reader. Think about what would make your audience smile.

“Sonny, true love is the greatest thing in the world. Except for a nice MLT: a mutton, lettuce and tomato sandwich, where the mutton is nice and lean and the tomato is ripe. They’re so perky, I love that.”
I write about true love, in faith, in marriage and parenting. And besides, I just LOVE the Princess Bride! ;-D

I’m always inspired by Goodwill Hunting – I did a post on it last year with a specific quote, and it always makes me happy. Thanks for the recommendations!
