It Doesn’t Have to Be a Blog

When some people hear the word “blog,” they cringe a little. They might even roll their eyes and pick up their newspapers snapping the pages loudly so as not to hear you. Here are just a few things those blog naysayers might be caught repeating.

  • I don’t understand blogs. Don’t these people have lives?
  • My computer is old. I don’t even have the software to view a blog.
  • Our customers don’t read blogs.
  • I already have a Web site.

The Ethics of Ghost Tweeting

In March, the New York Times published an article about celebrities and politicians who ask staff or hire writers to manage their Twitter accounts. The article mentioned that Britney Spears, 50 Cent, and even Alltop.com chief executive Guy Kawasaki rely on hired Twitterers.

The reality is that ghost Tweeting is not new. From the start of Twitter, busy professionals have relied on others to update their streams with novel and inspiring ideas and links.

Yes, Twitter is about building relationships, learning, and entertainment, but let’s be honest here, it’s about marketing too. Where there is marketing there is a copywriter, right?

WordCount Writers’ Blogathon and Blog Writing Tips

Yesterday I signed up for the 2nd annual WordCount Writers’ Blogathon put together by Michelle V. Rafter, a freelance writer who writes for online magazines such as IncTechnology.com, Portfolio.com, and MoneyWatch.com. Every freelance writer who joins the Blogathon makes a commitment to post to their blog each and every single day in May. Seeing how today is May 2 and yesterday I did not post here, I’ve already failed.

But never fear! With every failure a valuable lesson follows. So even though I missed the first day of the Blogathon, I thought I would take this opportunity to share a few relevant tips on blog writing.
